What We Do: Community Repair Night: Bike Again! is open to the public (starting in June 07) several times during the week. Please refer to Summer Schedule. During this time volunteers are on hand to work with participants, answer question and help find parts. It is a first-come first-serve system, so come early. Permanent Fleet Bikes: We have set aside a number of our better bikes to provide loaners to people who do not have bikes and who want to borrow a bike for a period of time. These bikes can be taken out on a short term loan (a few days) or long term loan (4 months). We do ask for a deposit and current address before these bikes are loaned out. Ask for details at the shop. Keep Bikes Out of Landfills: KBOL is a project that has always taken place but never named. Until now, that is. We will set aside a number of weekends where we will put a call out to our volunteers and the public to come in and help us strip bikes, separate the good, the bad and the ugly. We do not, sometimes cannot, use all the donated bikes. We do not want to turn them away and we do not want them to end up in the landfill. They will be taken to metal recyclers or be turned into art. Community Events: We are often asked to help out and provide bike repair clinics during the many community events in the HRM. Our volunteers love to attend these events because it gives us a chance to interact with a wider group of cyclists, breath some fresh air and enjoy riding our bikes. |
