The Ecology Action Centre is looking to support community root cellars throughout Nova Scotia. We will be awarding between 2 and 6 $400 grants to help communities purchase materials and/or hire a builder to construct a community root cellar.

We have attempted to keep this course as affordable as possible, using community partnerships to share resources and keep costs down. If you are able to afford to pay $350, part of your fee will go towards scholarships for people who are unable to afford the whole tuition.

Heliotrust is EAC’s ‘farm arm’, started in 2004. Currently there are three areas of emphasis: Open Farm Days (in the summer); Farmer-Mentor; and Farmland Conservation Easements. Wild Berry Jam-Making Workshop
The Food Action Committee of the Ecology Action Centre is hosting a jam-making workshop at Local Source (5783 Charles Street) on Monday, September 13th. There is workshop space for six people – registration is required. A donation of $10 is suggested to cover the costs of the workshop materials. If you have 250mL mason jars, please bring them.
