EAC position on ATVs and trails
EAC position on ATVs and trails
EAC supports strict limits to the recreational use of ATVs and other types of vehicles used “off-highway” to designated trails only as per the recommendations of the Off Highway Vehicles Task Force and the provincial government's Off Highway Vehicles Action Plan. This will amount to a substantial reduction from the "go-everywhere" defacto network of the past.

YOU ARE INVITED TO HELP US CELEBRATE A TERRIFIC ACHIEVEMENT! October 19, 2009
After more than a decade of advocacy and campaigning by EAC and the Eastern Shore Forest Watch, the new, 14,700 hectare Ship Harbour Long Lake Wilderness Area has finally been protected. This is a major victory for nature conservation on Nova Scotia. For more information on the area and the history of this campaign, see the cover story in this Sunday’s “The Nova Scotian” in the Chronicle Herald.

Nova Scotia’s newest wilderness area will be placed under a microscope June 5 and 6 as the 2009 Saint Mary’s University BioBlitz targets the Blue Mountain-Birch Cove Lakes Wilderness Area.
The 1,350 hectare area was officially designated as Nova Scotia's newest protected wilderness area on April 21. It includes forests and barrens and a system of interconnected lakes, streams, and wetlands. The BioBlitz, a 24-hour taxonomy survey, will provide a baseline biodiversity snapshot of the area.
