Action Suggestions
Concerned about the environment but not sure what you can do to help? You can make a difference! Whether you join one of our committees or volunteer on a project to create change in the wider community, provide financial support to an environmental group or simply turn off your computer at night, there is something everyone can do.
More suggestions
Each of our committees has useful suggestions of what you, your family, your community group, your school or your workplace can do for the environment.
- Built Environment Action
eg: Learn about how green renovations and green building can save energy and resources in your home by taking a tour of the Ecology Action Centre's green office renovation.* - Coastal Action
eg: Buy a re-fillable water bottle and fill it with tap water instead of buying bottled water. - Food Action
eg: Educate yourself about where your food comes from, who grew or raised it, and how it was caught or farmed. Ask questions at the grocery store, call the toll-free numbers on packaged food and talk to farmers. - Energy Action
eg: Help the Energy Issues Committee develop a sustainable energy path for the province by acting as a watchdog, participating as public interest interveners, and promoting sustainable energy policies for the province. - Marine Action
eg: Ask retailers for sustainably caught seafood. Let them know there is a demand for seafood that has been caught in a sustainable way. - Transportation Action
eg: Measure your transportation carbon footprint. - Wilderness Action
eg: Choose wood and paper that has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
