Action on Wind Energy
To meet the wind energy vision stated here, the EAC encourages
citizens to request from their government:
- support from the provincial government for municipalities to adopt suggestions outlined in the document, Model Wind Turbine
Bylaws and Best Practices for NS Municipalities - a provincial standard that sets a requirement for early community consultation and engagement in wind energy projects
- the adoption of a feed-in-tariff that sets a fair price for renewable electricity sold to the grid, thus encouraging citizen participation in electricity generation based on the Green Energy Act in Ontario
- a minimum regional content law for wind energy developments such as is practiced in Quebec
- a province-wide map of suitable locations for wind energy generation that considers ecological, social, and commercial land uses; similar to the one created by the Halifax Regional Municipality
- an expedited release of the new net-metering program by NSPI as required by the 2009 Provincial Energy Strategy
