Have your say on government policy!
Participate in public policy consultations.
When the government asks for public input, your feedback can help make policies stronger for the environment.
The Ecology Action Centre - in consultation with experts in the field - makes an effort to provide clear, concise information on the relevant issue in order to help you formulate your response.
Current public consultations:
- Sable Island Consultations
Parks Canada held three open houses in Halifax in June on how Sable Island ‘can be appreciated and protected as a national park’. Let the federal and provincial governments know that you want to see the Island protected from the impacts of tourism, oil and gas drilling and other human activities and that you want to see the Island Station continue to operate year-round. EAC is working with the Greenhorse Society, the Nova Scotia Chapter of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, and other groups to provide a comprehensive submission on what measures should be contained in the management plan for the park. Please visit the department's website to find out more about how to make your submission. - Coastal Strategy Consultation
The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Agriculture’s Provincial Oceans Network has announced a schedule for public consultations to seek Nova Scotia’s’ vision for the future of their coasts. Please visit the department's website for information on open house dates and locations, or to submit your feedback online. To read the Coastal Coalition of Nova Scotia's recommendations, please click here. - Marine Protected Areas Consultation The Ecology Action Centre (EAC) strongly supports the establishment of a new Marine Protected Area (MPA) in the off-shore area of Nova Scotia. Currently, only 0.56% of our regional marine environment is protected and this MPA selection process is a step in right direction. See our feedback here and then go here to see maps of the candidate areas and to fill out an online consultation form.
The Ecology Action Centre has acted as a voice for Nova Scotia's environment for over 37 years. The EAC has been voted #1 Activist Organization by readers of The Coast magazine for six years running. Since 1971, the EAC has been working to build a healthier, more sustainable Nova Scotia.
