This is the home that your donations built
A generous bequest was the first step on the road to a greener, low-impact office space that regularly inspires staff and visitors with its range of features and finishes. The journey continued when we found a regular older home in Halifax’s north end, situated on a brownfield site. The home - generously sold to us for lower than market value by the O'Malley family - was in need of extensive renovations for energy efficiency, usability and design.
Our generous capital donors made our new home a reality by contributing a total of $140 000 of cash and in-kind donations for the renovations.
Nine months after initiating the green reno project, and after countless hours of volunteer labour, research and hard decision making, the staff of the EAC moved in and threw open the doors to tours for the public. Since then, hundreds have toured the facility and hundreds more have contacted the EAC for guidance to start their own green reno.
The Ecology Action Centre has acted as a voice for Nova Scotia's environment for over 37 years. The EAC has been voted #1 Activist Organization by readers of The Coast magazine for six years running. Since 1971, the EAC has been working to build a healthier, more sustainable Nova Scotia.
