Projects and Committees
Most of our work is done through our action committees and their projects. All of our committees welcome new volunteers and members!
Built Environment
Our Built Environment Committee encourages ecologically sustainable, affordable and healthy building design and construction, and promotes urban planning and design in harmony with the natural and social environment.
Coastal and Water
Our Coastal and Water Issues Committee addresses threats to coastal and freshwater resources through research, education, engagement, mobilization, and collaboration.
Energy
Our Energy Issues Committee promotes policies and practices that prioritize sustainable energy for the benefit of Nova Scotians and the future of our province.
Food
Our Food Action Committee celebrates and encourages the consumption of local, ecologically produced foods and supports efforts to be more self-reliant in food within Nova Scotia.
Marine
Our Marine Issues Committee works locally, nationally and internationally towards conserving and protecting marine ecosystems and maintaining sustainable fisheries and vibrant coastal communities.
Transportation
Our Transportation Issues Committee works to improve sustainable transportation options in Nova Scotia, such as cycling, walking, carpooling and public transit.
Wilderness
Our Wilderness Committee focuses on wildland and forest conservation, and ecosystem-based forest management.
Bird Conservation
The Bird Conservation Sub-Committee of the Coastal and Water Issues Committee works to protect birds.
We also have several "standing committees" that help us keep the organization running smoothly! Please see our Committee Meeting Times page or contact us to learn more about how you can get involved with one of them.
The Ecology Action Centre has been working to build a healthier, more sustainable Nova Scotia since 1971.
