Boomerang latex paints were used in areas prone to moisture damage, such as the bathroom.  Boomerang paints are reconstituted latex paints that have been recovered from left-over residential use, and the process of reconstitution yields a higher quality product than is available from conventional suppliers.

Four Seasons Roofing replaced the existing roof with a thoroughly insulated roof that helps to retain heat in the winter, and therefore increases heat efficiency in our building.  The following layers were installed: wood roof deck, 180 gram polyester reinforced base sheet, perimeter metal detail, spun aluminum vent covers, two way breather vents, asphalt primer, 180 gram polyester flashing, 250 polyester reinforced cap sheet and termination bar.

Concrete floors were transformed with Kemiko Stone Tone Stain.  This stain is a unique acid which seeps into the concrete and reacts to form beautiful colours that vary in hue throughout the surface.  With this stain, we were able to create high contrast designs in the flooring that would make our space more accessible for people with visual impairments.

Eco-Fridge (or ConServ) refrigerators are produced to be highly energy efficient and to run without CFCs.  In order to conserve energy, these fridges have been designed with freezers at the bottom, and with cooling tubes and the condenser built into the walls of the fridge.  The unit is entirely sealed for quiet, efficient operation.  The high efficiency of this refrigerator was recognized by the European Union, which granted this unit the first ever EcoLabel in light of its compliance with EU environmental and energy criteria.

Composting toilets conserve a great deal of water, and produce safe fertilizer easily and without the offensive odors associated with outhouses since the waste material is being broken down and extra liquid is evaporated.  These self-contained units require only handfuls of peat and occasional rotation of the composting drum.  Units are also available which connect low-flush toilets to an exterior central composting unit.  Sun-Mar composting toilets are NSF certified and have received a gold medal at the International Inventor's Exhibition in Geneva, Switzerland.
