Freshwater Resources: Watersheds and you

"Reflections" by Ellen BirdEveryone lives in a dynamic and unique watershed. A watershed is the drainage area in which all water, sediments, and dissolved materials flow or drain from the land into groundwater, streams, rivers, and eventually into a lake or ocean. As they travel, each water drop collects sediments, chemicals, and waste, contaminating the water that communities use downstream. Wildlife, humans, and the economy all need healthy watersheds to survive. Our actions and attitudes have far reaching effects and we all influence what happens to our watersheds.
