Wetland Conservation Policy Consultations
The Province of Nova Scotia has committed in legislation to develop a policy for the no net loss of wetlands by 2009. This is a very important policy that will help to protect and restore wetlands, including bogs, fens, swamps and salt marshes. The draft strategy is currently available on the website of the Department of Environment, as well as a Proponent’s Guide which is for anyone intending to do work in or around a wetland with instructions on how that work should be done. %20001_compressed.jpg)
EAC's Comments
The EAC has reviewed both these documents and with the help of volunteer wetland experts and other wetland specialists we have crafted our response to the draft policy. We invite you to take a look at the EAC’s submission and use it as an inspiration for your response. The louder our voices can be on the importance of protecting and restoring wetlands the better this policy will be. The EAC submission conveniently has italicized and colored sections that we think are really key and we encourage everyone to emphasize these in your submissions.
