Rock gardens are ideally suited to areas that receive full sun and usually
dry out in the summer. Try converting an area that is already rocky or hilly
into a low maintenance rock garden.
To create a rock garden, add a small amount of organic matter. Then choose plants that have naturally adapted to habitats with little soil. Some examples of low maintenance rock garden varieties include: sedums, snow-in-summer, creeping phlox, and creeping thyme.
Soon you'll have a reclaimed a problem area of your property and turned it into a garden that is both beautiful and cost effective. Add a bit of organic matter each spring to help retain moisture and you'll soon see a mass of incredible color as the growing season begins.
