Rock Gardens

Rock gardens are ideally suited to areas that receive full sun and usually dry out in the summer. Try converting an area that is already rocky or hilly into a low maintenance rock garden.

To create a rock garden, add a small amount of organic matter. Then choose plants that have naturally adapted to habitats with little soil. Some examples of low maintenance rock garden varieties include: sedums, snow-in-summer, creeping phlox, and creeping thyme.

Soon you'll have a reclaimed a problem area of your property and turned it into a garden that is both beautiful and cost effective. Add a bit of organic matter each spring to help retain moisture and you'll soon see a mass of incredible color as the growing season begins.
