The Lawn

Human Health

How many injuries are caused each year because of lawns? Probably more than you really want to know. In fact, you are more likely to die on the job mowing lawns for a living than being a police officer!1

Injuries and Amputations

Nearly 75,000 Americans are seriously injured in lawn mower accidents each year. About 10,000 of those accidents involve children.2
More than 30% these injuries resulted in an amputation of some sort.3

*That's more than 22,000 limbs and digits that go missing every year in pursuit of the perfect green!

Noise Pollution & Hearing Loss

"The World Health Organization and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) both recommend that people limit their total exposure to noises as loud as a lawn mower to 45 minutes per day for the quieter gas mowers, 15 minutes for the average mowers, and five minutes for the loudest ones." (Otherwise you should be wearing earplugs!)4

Poisoning

Both pesticides and fertilizers can cause poisoning, resulting in a wide range of health effects and even death.
