second floor A walk up the stairwell to the second floor is filled with reminders of the past, present and future of this building. The staircase that originally led to a grouping of rooms that made up a boarding house is now filled with framed pieces that represent the successes of the EAC. As the EAC's history becomes entwined with the history of this building, reminders get built up along the way of the potential this organization and this site specifically have of inspiring people to act in an environmentally-aware manner. The stairwell, carefully restored by EAC staff and volunteers, has now inspired a whole class of students at Dalhousie's school of Architecture to donate their skills and talents to planning and installing reused materials and natural wall finishes to this stairwell. At the top of the staircase
lies the future of the organization: a group of dedicated staff and
volunteers hard at work in their beautiful, natural and energy efficient
offices. Peek upstairs and find out more about water conservation,
lighting, FSC wood and indoor air quality on the final floor of our
office.
